How do I add money to my balance to spend with my PayPal Debit Card or Business Debit Mastercard® purchases?
When you make a purchase with your PayPal Debit Card, we'll use any available money you have in your PayPal Balance account. Here's what you need to do to add money to your PayPal balance:
Receive money
When someone sends you money through PayPal to your personal account, it is automatically placed in your PayPal Balance account and can be used for your PayPal Debit Card purchases.
Add money from your eligible bank account or debit card on the web
- Go to Wallet.
- Click Transfer Money.
- Click Add money from your bank or debit card.
- Enter the amount and click Next.
- Choose either ‘In seconds with debit’ or ‘in 3-5 days with your bank’.
We’ll email you when the transfer completes.
Add money on the PayPal app
To add money from your eligible bank account or debit card on the app:
- Tap Accounts.
- Tap Add Money on the Balance tile.
- Choose 'Debit card' or 'Bank'.
- Enter the amount and tap Add (Amount) Now.
Alternatively, click on the Balance tile to set up Direct Deposit or cash a check.
Add cash at stores
You can add cash at any participating retailer (including Walmart, CVS, 7-Eleven, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and many others). Take your cash to the register and let the clerk know you want to add cash to PayPal. There’s a fee to add cash to your PayPal Balance Account at participating stores. The fee amount varies by store. You can generate a barcode in the app or swipe your Debit Card. Then hand the cash (between $20 and $500) to the clerk. Your money will be added within 15 minutes, and you’ll receive an email confirmation.
Please visit our PayPal Balance Terms and Conditions page for more information.
If you’re unable to add money, your PayPal account may be limited, or you may need to verify your identity. You can always Contact Us if you continue to have issues.
