Why didn’t my donation go to my recommended charity (PayPal Giving Fund)?
While we make every effort to distribute donations according to our donors’ recommendations, sometimes it isn’t possible. This could be because:
- The charity didn’t respond to our attempts to arrange delivery of the money, or the cheque we sent was returned or refused.
- The charity closed after the original donation or is no longer accepting donations.
- The charity doesn’t meet the requirements of our Charity Certification Policy.
When we can't deliver the donation to the nominated charity, we ask the donor (whenever possible) to recommend another charity, and if they don't respond, we reassign the money to a similar charity, in accordance with our Donation Delivery Policy.
We typically choose eligible charities with active PayPal accounts to enable efficient delivery. For example, if we're unable to grant a donation to an unenrolled local organisation that provides education services, we'd typically reassign the money to an eligible charity with an active PayPal account that provides education services.
