If your PayPal Debit Card is lost or stolen to avoid unauthorized transactions you can lock the card using the PayPal app. Report the card lost or stolen from the app or by logging into your PayPal account.
After you’ve notified us, you can take these steps to further protect your accounts and info.
Contact your financial institutions
Review all of your accounts for unauthorized activity to help determine how long your info has been compromised and prepare you for these conversations.
Ask for the Fraud department, explain what's happened, and be clear what they—and you—can do to resolve it.
Call the number printed on the back of your card. You can usually notify them online or in their app, too.
Filing a report with your local police department will help you document your case. Some institutions, agencies, and credit bureaus will ask for the report number or a copy of the police report.
Place a fraud alert with the credit bureaus
A fraud alert lets lenders know that you may be a victim of fraud so they’re encouraged to take extra steps to verify your identity before granting new credit. There's no charge, they don't affect your credit score, and can be removed at any time. What's more, if you place a fraud alert at one bureau, they’ll notify the other two for you.
Call the Fraud Victim Assistance Department at (800) 525-6285 or visit their website.
Scammers can change info in your accounts, so check for things like phone numbers, email, or mailing addresses that have been added or changed in your accounts.
